Current Beta

Important Notes: Beta versions contain new features and functions that have not yet been as fully tested as have Release versions. If you use a Beta, you may find bugs or problems and you are expected to report them to Ross-Tech so that we can fix them before making a new Release.

Beta 19.1.2 included the following improvements:

  • Adds a "Whole Vehicle" choice Controller Channel Map dialog.
... this can still take quite a while, so either use a battery charger or let the engine idle.

  • Support for Manual diagnostic mode changes.
... this is not something that should be played with by most users, so exactly how it's done will not be documented. If you need this capability, please e-mail Support and provide details why you think you need it.

  • Considerably improved support for 2019 A8/Q8/A6, etc.
... some addresses were inaccessible in previous versions.

  • Revised Installation List retrieval
... much faster and more exhaustive due to using broadcasts rather than sequential queries.

  • Completely revised and revamped ASAM/ODX Data (DS 301)
... and changes to the VCDS software needed to accommodate it.

  • Over 4000 new fault code texts
... for DTCs in the latest cars.

  • Many other small fixes and optimizations.
... way too many to list individually.

Beta 19.4.0 includes the following improvements:

  • Adds a new Adaptation Map file format, 'Raw Hex'
... which allows for the ability to restore all the Adaptation channels in a control module to a previously saved state.  Restore can only be done from the new "adphex-[whatever].csv file format, so obviously one must make a Raw Hex map before one can Restore Adaptations from it.
Note: The Restore functionality may not work on control modules that use the ancient KW1281 protocol.

  • Adds additional checks to prevent inadvertent VIN registration.
... applicable only interfaces with VIN-Limited licenses.

  • Added additional feedback UDS Adaptation Read Errors.

  • Expanded Diagnostic Firewall checks.

  • Added TDI Timing Checker support for certain marine engines.

  • Improved UDS SRI labels and texts.

  • Completely revised and revamped ASAM/ODX Data (DS 307)
... and changes to the VCDS software needed to accommodate it.

Release Notes:

  • Beta 19.4 works only with Ross-Tech's current HEX-NET and HEX-V2 interfaces.
It will not work with any of our older, legacy interfaces.

Support for legacy interfaces will be included again in the next Release version.

  • HEX-NET and HEX-V2 interfaces must be set to the Beta channel using VCIConfig.
CB v0.4501 or higher is required to use this version of VCDS.
Updating your interface will not affect compatibility with previous versions of VCDS.

  • Default installation location is C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-Beta\
If allowed to install to its default location, it will not overwrite or interfere with the use of Release 18.2.

  • Works on Windows 7 and newer, including Windows 10.
Either 32 or 64 bit versions of Windows are fully supported.  It might still work on XP as well, but we no longer consider any version of Windows older than 7 to be "supported."
