Current Beta

Important Note: Beta versions contain new features and functions that have not yet been as fully tested as have Release versions. If you use a Beta, you may find bugs or problems and you are expected to report them to Ross-Tech so that we can fix them before making a new Release.

Beta 17.2.6 included the following improvements:

  • Battery History Data
... on cars that support it, VCDS can now read and display the Battery History Data. This can help evaluate the condition of a car's battery and aids in trouble-shooting charging system and battery issues. The function is accessible via a button on the Applications screen. The user must then select the module that the history data is to be read from. It will be either 61 or 19 depending on the model of car.

  • The ability to analyze the above History Data via Niels Ezerman's excellent add-on.
... just click the [Analyze] button on the above screen and VCDS will launch it for an more understandable view of the data:

Use the drop-down boxes labeled 2 and 3 at the top of the dialog to select different items of history data to view.

  • A fix for excessively long UDS Adaptation channels.
... as found in some 2016 and newer BCMs. This requires the Codeblock in HEX-NET and HEX-V2 interfaces to be updated to 0.4336.

  • Improved interpretation of certain UDS "reject" messages.
... such as "RPM too high" when trying to recode a module that should only be coded with the engine not running.

  • Improved handling of very long messages.
... both for current and legacy interfaces.

  • Preliminary support for new SY-chassis Crafter vans.
    ... HEX-NET or HEX-V2 interface required!

  • New ROD file compression/encryption.
... Substantially reduces the amount of space required by VCDS to well under 100 MB again.

Beta 17.3.1 Added:

  • All-new ROD file data set.
... Should now cover pretty much any control module currently found "in the wild".

  • Several bug-fixes.
... mostly involving absurdly long messages from/to newest control modules.

Beta 17.4.0 Added:

  • The ability to split Grouped UDS requests in Advanced Measuring Values.
... for faster sample rates when viewing or logging many items.

Note that this improvement is only available with current generation (HEX-NET and HEX-V2) interfaces.

  • A number of cosmetic improvements in Advanced Measuring Blocks.
... should eliminate the appearance of scroll bars and/or covering of the last item or two.

  • New Version of VCIConfig.
... should help with some of the issued customers have reported with registering and updating HEX-NET and HEX-V2 interfaces.

  • New Version of the VCDSScan toolbox program.
... with the ability to interpret even more battery history items
    .

  • New Label File data.
... approximately 30 new or revised files.
    .

Beta 17.4.1 Added:

  • Performance Improvements
... CPU offloading with HN/HV2 in UDS measuring values, Improved turbo with HN/HV2 in OBD2, Pre-loading of some ASAM data at program startup with separate thread, and various other optimizations.
    .

  • New Version of VCIConfig
... should properly handle extended European character sets while blocking non-Latin character sets entirely.
    .

  • New Versions of LCode and the VCDSScan toolbox
... thanks to Niels of NEtech!

Beta 17.4.2 Added:

  • Support for UTF8 registration data
... for customers who register their HEX-NET and HEX-V2 interfaces using characters that don't exist in English.
    .

  • Support for new features in UDS label files.
... to allow for explanations of Basic Setting and Adaptation functions.
    .

  • Made "No" the default in VIN registration box.
... to help avoid unintentionally adding a VIN to a VIN-Limited interface.
    .

  • Removed Control Module Finder function from Applications screen.
... this was rarely used on modern cars and the last entry in the Auto-Scan drop-down (XX - All Addresses) accomplishes the same thing and provides more data.
    .

  • Added [VCDS Toolbox] button to Applications screen.
... which launches NEtech's toolbox application.

  • Refactored generic OBD-II code handling PID 03.
... and allows logging of multiple displayed fields for a given PID.

Beta 17.5.1 Adds:

  • LT3/Crafter Support for HEX-NET and HEX-V2 interfaces.
... Requires CodeBlock v0.4341 (or higher) in those interfaces.

  • New ROD data set (DS272)
... with various updates Á improvements.

  • New VCIConfig v2.237
... handles European characters sets more gracefully and has various other improvements.

  • UDS Selective Output Tests and Basic Settings now have IDE numbers.
... making it easier to identify them in a language/translation independent way.

  • Additional UDS addresses
... to support modules found in brand-new models.

  • Fix for HEX-NET Á HEX-V2 not working with KW1281 01J Multitronic TCUs.

  • Numerous other small improvements Á compatibility enhancements.
