Note: Beta versions
contain new features and functions that have not yet been as fully
tested as have Release versions. If you use a Beta, you may find
bugs or problems and you are expected to report them to Ross-Tech so
that we can fix them before making a new Release. Please be sure that you have also installed
the latest Release on
your computer as well so that you can revert back to using that if you
encounter problems with the Beta.
Beta 10.4 includes the
All Features introduced in Beta 10.3;
details on this page.
Native x64-bit build of VCDS.
64-bit operating systems are
clearly the future. VCDS has always been as future-proof as
possible. It has run on every new version of Windows the day
that version of Windows was released. Of course
the regular 32-bit version of VCDS "runs" on 64-bit versions of
Windows too, but sooner or later, 32-bit support is going to go
away, much as 16-bit support already has.
Native x64-bit builds VC-Scope,
TDI-Graph, and CSVConv. Yes, the whole ball of wax; it's all
64-bit native code!
Works only with Intelligent Interfaces (HEX,
KEY and Micro-CAN).
Works on XP-64, Vista-64 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 .
32-bit versions of Windows are NOT supported. It won't
even install on 32-bit systems.
Although we realize that we have to
continue to support 32-bit environments for
some time to come in "Release" versions for
the masses, we expect all future Betas to be
x64 only. The reality is, everyone who actually bothers to give us feeback on Beta versions is a major geek anyway and probably has a 64-bit Windows already.
Default installation location is
C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-x64\. If allowed to install to its default
location, it will not overwrite or interfere with any other version
you've got installed.
For controllers using the new
UDS/ODX protocol, Fault Codes, Measuring Values, Output Tests, Adaptation and Basic
require a control
module-specific "data dictionary" file. If a data dictionary file is not available
for a specific control module, VCDS will show an obvious error
message, in which case you should contact
